"The purpose of Wooddale Church is to honor God by making more disciples for Jesus Christ." Values are what Wooddale Church lives by to fulfill our purpose.
God-centered
-
Wooddale Church exists for God.
-
In every person and program God is first, God is experienced and God is to be pleased.
-
We delight to constantly have God on our minds and in our conversations.
-
Wooddale Church is the people and place where God is experienced. Public gathering to worship is a primary expression. Personal godly living is an equally important expression.
Bible-based
-
Wooddale Church lives by the Bible.
-
Bible teaching permeates every program because we want to know and understand God’s Word. The Bible must be lived out in our lives because we believe the Bible is God’s Word for what we believe and do.
-
Learning and living the Bible is natural and normal to Wooddale Church.
Outreach-oriented
-
Wooddale Church looks outward to serve non-Christians and the un-churched in order to reach them for Jesus Christ. This is woven into everything we do. Outreach orientation requires awareness of our culture and connecting to people as they are and where they are. When a choice is made between serving needs on the inside or reaching out to others, we are committed in advance toward ministry to outsiders. This is done to fulfill our purpose to make more disciples for Jesus Christ.
Disciple-making
-
Christians are disciples - believers who are learning and changing to be more like Jesus.
-
Disciple-making is happening when Wooddalers live Christianly, especially under stress, and especially in demonstrating Christian love in relationships with others.
-
Wooddale Church is a university for disciple-making - offering courses, networking relationships, providing community, showcasing examples, serving as a laboratory and offering a context for continuous disciple-making.
-
We will continually change to get the job done. We will include classes, seminars, retreats, mentoring, counseling and discipling. When appropriate, we will encourage Christians to take advantage of disciple-making opportunities at other churches or through outside organizations. We are far more interested in developing disciples for Jesus Christ than accumulating members for Wooddale Church. We welcome the opportunity to bless Christians who leave Wooddale Church to make disciples in other churches.
Kingdom-building
-
The kingdom of Jesus Christ is far greater than any local church or denomination. It includes loyal followers of Jesus all over the world.
-
We are serious about building the kingdom. We want to give away to other churches many of the blessings God has given to us. This is done by starting new churches, encouraging hurting churches, sharing what we have learned, learning from others, sending missionaries and much more.
-
We rejoice when churches and Christians outside Wooddale Church prosper and succeed - and we are thrilled when God allows us to have a small part in the great good He is doing for them.
Future-looking
-
Vision at Wooddale Church is in the future tense because we are future-looking. We know that faith really pleases God and faith is always forward.
-
Our faith for the future is generated by trust in Jesus Christ. The vision that is God-centered, Bible-based, outreach-oriented, disciple-making, kingdom-building and future-looking will supernaturally produce a healthy, growing, faithful church. Wooddale Church is like a nuclear generator powered by God, constantly releasing energy to give power and light in many directions.
