SUNDAYS

The Woods Sunday programs use the tru curriculum by David C. Cook.  Our desire is to partner with families to inspire, equip and support them as they grow their faith together.  The Home|front Weekly is designed for families to study the scripture at home for the Bible lesson for the following Sunday.  The Home|front Monthly is filled with activities, recipes and inspiration that reflect the lesson theme for the month.

WEDNESDAYS-W.O.W. (Woods on Wednesdays)

3 year olds – 4th graders use the Gospel Light curriculum which provides many exciting ways to interact with the themes and grow in their relationship with Christ. Games, song time, crafts and sometimes even the snack reinstate the theme. Students memorize verses with the aid of sign language and songs. Study guides help families have conversations about the lesson and encourage the students to apply the lesson throughout the week.

W.O.W. for 5th & 6th graders has an exciting change this year! There is a huge emphasis for being God’s hands and feet to glorify Him on Earth! Throughout the year, the 5th & 6th grade kids will hear testimonies, learn what it means to be a Christian and true follower of Christ, create service committees, experience multiple serving opportunities within the Church and the community, as well as attend fun events to grow in fellowship with each other. We have some awesome parents and young adults interested in helping out, but we are looking for many more to be a part of our: prayer team, special events team, small group leader team, testimony team, and worship team.

Volunteer Opportunities- for Sundays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays

We would love to welcome you to the Children's Ministries team!  There are roles to fit every personality and schedule.  Which of these is the right fit for you to serve in?

  • Greeter: The Greeter checks kids in and out of their appropriate rooms. He/she will warmly welcome all people. Visitors will be asked to fill out an information card and then the greeter will hand that to the small group leader.
  • Team Leader: Oversees the entire classroom. Runs to get more supplies if needed; helps with room management; cares for the other volunteers in that room with prayers, prayer requests, and meeting with them to find out concerns/needs. Communicates frequently with program assistant or associate.
  • Small Group Leader: The Small Group Leader shepherds the kids through questions about the story and biblical truths, engages them in community-building activities, helps them create a remembrance of their experience, and blesses them before they leave. Ideally Small Group Leaders work week after week with the same group of kids, giving them the opportunity to develop lasting relationships with each child.
  • Worship Leader: The Worship Leader facilitates worship by listening to the direction of the Holy Spirit and inviting others into the worship experience. Worship leaders can use hand motions, playing instruments, or singing along to CDs to lead!
  • Storyteller: After active involvement with the Scriptures and the lesson, the Storyteller recounts the Bible passage for the kids in an engaging way. He/she leads by telling personal stories as prompted and guiding the kids into a time of natural worship response.
  • Check-in Station Assistant: Volunteer to help make printing tags for an event/program easy to do by getting to know the families and working with the check-in computers.
  • Nursery Care Giver: Play with kids and nurture them with love in the nursery. Some volunteers can choose to help with story, music, or team lead too!
  • Trail Buddy: We want all kids to feel welcome and set-up for success in the classroom, which is why a trail buddy provides one-on-one attention for a child with unique needs or special needs.
  • Behind the Scenes Assistant: Flexible hours and flexible projects! The children’s ministry team needs you for organizational support or creative support. Hours occur during the weekday from Monday to Thursday.
