What kind of work will we be doing?

There will always be a variety of activities to choose from. You can check out which sites are offered in the next event and read the site summaries to learn more about the specific projects offered.

What if I don't enjoy or can't do physical work projects, is there still something I can do?

Yes! Each event will have a variety of sites, some that include manual labor and some that are less physically demanding or more relational in nature.

Is there an age limit? Can my kids come?

Just Show up and Serve is family friendly and we encourage families to come and serve together. Some sites do require a minimum age due to safety concerns or the nature of the work. However, we ensure that some of the sites will be open to people of all ages.

How should I dress/what do I need to wear?

Come dressed in weather-appropriate clothing. It is recommended to wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty, as several sites will including painting, cleaning, and other work projects. Comfortable, close-toed shoes are strongly recommended. Sun-screen, a hat, and bug repellant are also good to bring/wear especially in the warmer months.

Do I need to bring anything?

You can show up just as you are and find a place to plug in. Occasionally sites will recommend work gloves or other tools. If you can bring any such supplies to use, it will be appreciated by the sites but is not necessary to participate. The additional optional tools list for each site will be available closer to the date of the next event. Supplies for activites will be provided by the organizations we work with.

Sandwiches for the Homeless

The number of people experiencing homelessness in the Twin Cities is increasing every day. Just Show up and Serve is committed to helping provide for the homeless in the Twin Cities by preparing and delivering at least 1,000 sandwiches to local homeless shelters.

Organizations:
Each of the following organizations will benefit from this project. They provide pre-made sandwiches and bag lunches to their residents in the mornings as they leave for the day. They depend on volunteers and donations to provide these lunches.

Now you can preregister for the site you like best!  Remember, you, and each person in your group, must be present at the proper location (either Edina or Eden Prairie) to sign up officially by 8:30 the morning of the event or your spot will be opened for others to register.  Limits are set for volunteers based on the project and organization. Just Show up and Serve will also keep some spots open for those who show up the morning of the event.

If you have any questions, please contact us at loveindeedwc@gmail.com.
