Generosity Fall 2012

In 2010, Wooddale Church launched Generosity! This twofold initiative encouraged Wooddalers to live and give generously. Generosity! supplements the Ministry Fund and has provided the opportunity to meet the financial needs of Wooddalers and people in the community during the economic downturn.

Through Generosity! Wooddale has been able to expand the Ministry Mentoring Apprenticeship program. This program helps students, as early as fourth grade, develop leadership skills. There are twice as many apprentices in 2012 as in the past.
Generosity! has also created new opportunities at Wooddale. A Video Specialist has been hired to create professional quality videos. A Webmaster has also been hired to make enhancements to the website as well as create the new Wooddale website. Generosity! has also provided funding for the Senior Pastor Search.

Wooddalers have given generously of their time and resources throughout this campaign. The Hunger Initiative, in February of 2012, sent over 1.5 million meals to the Horn of Africa. Approximately 4,100 volunteers from 11 churches worked with 3 food organizations at 8 different packing sites to put together meals to ship to African countries beset by famine and drought.

The Winter Warmth Clothing Drive partnered with World Relief and the Minnesota Council of Churches to provide winter clothing for refugees from Myanmar, Somalia and Iraq. Wooddalers generously donated over 900 articles of winter clothing.
Thousands of Wooddalers have already volunteered at Wooddale Church, in the community and at local schools since 2010. As Generosity! continues through 2013, remember the prompting of 2 Corinthians 9:6, Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
