1:1 Discipleship is an intentional, spiritual, life-on-life relationship in which one person helps another grow —under grace and into Christian maturity—through regular, focused, intentional time together.

The goal of 1:1 Discipleship is to mature Christians to understand their God-given purpose, their corporate identity as part of the body of Christ, their individual distinctiveness and gifting, and how to work with God as a committed servant and ambassador in every arena of life.

The fruit of 1:1 Discipleship is what Wooddale Church’s mission is all about. Wooddale Church exists to honor God by making more disciples for Jesus Christ. When Jesus called his first disciples, he said: “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” (Matthew 4:19) We believe that disciples are people who are: (1) Following Jesus (2) Being Changed By Jesus (3) Living on Mission for Jesus.

Your 1:1 Discipleship Team wants you to understand the following regarding your discipleship commitment.

Your discipleship process will be structured with a 1:1 Bible Study and once one is completed, you begin another Bible Study, that is, unless you are prepared to serve and disciple others
The priority is God discovery and spiritual growth/maturity
Included is prayer, scripture memory, and life application
You will meet regularly with your discipler (weekly or biweekly)
The disciple/discipler is expected to prepare in advance for meetings, answering all questions from the Bible Study
The disciple/discipler is expected to communicate if not able to make a meeting so the two can reschedule
Discipleship is NOT counseling or a social friendship meeting.
