WORKSHOPS
12:45 – 1:45 p.m.
Aspiring to be whole and holy in a life of church ministry
Presenter: Paul Johnson
Location: Room 270
This workshop discussion will focus on the attitudes and practices that can help us aim to be whole and holy in church ministry. Wholeness means all the dimensions of our lives through all the seasons of our lives. Holiness means to be set apart to God, the people we love and the ministry God assigns us.
Paul Johnson will share lessons learned from failure and success, and practical advice and wisdom on creating the environment where you can flourish in ministry. There will be lots of opportunities for group discussion and reflection.
Seizing Opportunities | Solving Problems
Presenter: Joel Johnson
Location: Chapel
Problems are part of everyday life and leadership, but results are best obtained by seizing opportunities—not by solving problems. With the Twin Cities’ demographics evolving rapidly, and no single majority group expected by 2038, churches are navigating important questions about their future. People are eager to know,“Where are we going? How will we get there? Will you love me along the way?” This workshop addresses how you can seize and solve as it relates to the church’s response to the Twin Cities’ dynamic and diverse demographic and religious landscape.
How to Plant a Church
Presenter: Trent Palmberg & Drew Johnson
Location: Room 105
Planting a new church is challenging and complex. Join us and learn from the stories of current church planters about what it takes to start a new church community. You’ll discover different approaches in modern church planting that can be utilized to reach different contexts. There will be time for Q&A and discussion.
Leadership Communication in Complex Times
Presenter: Stephanie Williams O’Brien
Location: Great Room
We are living in divisive and polarizing times. We can be difference-makers in how we communicate with those we lead, even in complex times. Our language as leaders also creates and shapes the culture of our teams and organizations in deep ways. In this workshop, we will address communication strategies in large, small and individual settings so we can grow in our effectiveness as leaders.
