enCourage Peace – Part 2

There’s a trustworthy source of peace we can bank on in the days ahead.

We live in uncertain times. All around us it appears God is shaking what can be shaken so that which is of him remains (Hebrews 12:26-27). Take finances, for instance. If inflation, economic instability or supply chain issues have not touched your life in the past three years, you’re in the minority.

Yet God says, “Don’t worry.”

If we concern ourselves with money and revolve our days around it, we’ll miss the purpose of life. The reality is, we can’t serve God and money at the same time because we’ll end up loving one and hating the other (Matthew 6:24).

The good news is there’s a trustworthy source of peace and provision that we can bank on in the days ahead. He knows our needs before we even ask, and he owns all the gold and silver (Haggai 2:8). He says:

Why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. (Matthew 6:28-34)

You are priceless to God. As you seek him first and trust him, he will transform your worry into peace. Such a great exchange.

Let’s pray:

Dear Heavenly Father, please forgive me for times when I have worried about money and failed to trust in your provision. I choose today to seek you first in all areas of life and submit to your leadership. Guard my heart and mind from making an idol out of wealth and material comfort. I choose instead the peace that comes from resting in your wise care for me. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
