The Twin Cities has been facing significant challenges recently. In times of fear and uncertainty, God calls His people to return to the simplest and most powerful response: prayer.
Starting February 1, we invite you to join us for 28 days of prayer by praying 2 Chronicles 7:14 over the Twin Cities each day at 7:14 a.m. or 7:14 p.m. (or both times).
And you won’t be praying by yourself—churches across the Twin Cities are joining together, praying the same verse at the same time, believing God for the healing of our city.
“...if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)
Why 2 Chronicles 7:14
God gives a clear promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14: when His people humble themselves, pray, seek Him, and turn toward Him, He hears from heaven and brings healing. Over the 28 days in February, we are praying that verse over the Twin Cities—asking God to bring healing, peace, wisdom and renewal to our community.
Here are four ways to guide your prayer as you reflect on this passage.
As we meditate on 2 Chronicles 7:14, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land,” we can follow it with prayer.
Humility means depending on God and remembering He is all we need. Prayer begins by remembering who God is and who we are.
We can come to Him saying, “Lord, we acknowledge our need of You. We choose to rely on You rather than ourselves.”
We are committing to 2 Chronicles 7:14, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land,” and we follow it with obedience.
Seeking God’s face means turning our attention toward Him. He promises to meet those who seek Him and seeking Him leads to transformation.
We can pray, “Lord, draw us near and align our hearts with what matters most to You.”
We study God’s will by focusing on 2 Chronicles 7:14, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land,” and we ask forgiveness.
Repentance means to turn away from sin. When we acknowledge the ways of our world and confess them, we are led back to God’s grace without shame or condemnation.
We can pray, “Lord, renew us by Your grace and restore what has been broken.”
We trust in the promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land,” knowing in faith He hears us.
Trusting means confidently relying on God’s character, promises, and power. It is a daily active decision of surrendering control, knowing and believing He is good, loving and sovereign, even when facing uncertainty or difficulty.
We can pray, “Lord, heal our city, and use us as instruments of Your peace. We know you can restore our community and bring renewal anywhere there is weariness, pain and division.”
